I'm starting to think about rubber for the 08 season.
My wish is to bump up to a set of 215's vs my current 205's. Rules say as long as it fits under the fender any tire/rim combo is fine.

So to get that in the Azenis 615's I have to look at 16" rims. (215/45R16) (street ties only in my class)
So I'm looking for a light, cheap, 16x7 or 16x7.5" rim.

My first thought was rotas, they are cheap, and I love my slips that I have. (15x6.5)

any one have any other suggestions?
or where to buy the rotas from?

Which rules are you referring to?

As far as rubber, are you staying on street tires?

I'll look into the RPF1.

autocross rules (Midwestern Council not SCCA or NASA)
rubber = Tread Wear > 140

The Enkeis are light, but costly.

I'd strongly consider the Brindgestone RE-01 R. That's what all the STS guys are running nationally. They only come in a 195 on 15s, but they stick better than the 205 Azenis.

I would:
Stay with 15s.
Not worry about moving up to 215s

If you are going to go with 215s, 225/50-15s are easier to find, but you may have to roll fenders; that or run a decent amount of camber.

Are you going to go with a dedicated autox setup, or is this for DD as well? Why aren't you getting DOT-Rs (slicks)?

Oh, have you considered 14s? The TD 14x7s will fit over GSR brakes. They are what I ran at Nats this year:

the desire to move up to 215s had to do with increased contact patch. But if the Potenzas are stickier than the 615s then I'm all for it. (cheaper too)

I've always been confused on rim size for tire width. Would the 6.5" or 7" be better for the 195/50?

The rims/tires hopefully will be track only tires. Hoping to keep the temp cycles to a minimal.

rules state that the tires must have 3/32" tread left across 80% of the surface.

Hadn't thought of 14's.

I don't think the extra 10mm is worth the extra money per tire, honestly. If you were going from 225s to 275s, sure.

As far as the 6.5 or 7.0 for the 195, I would go with the 7". That being said, if you have to get a new set of wheels for 1/2 difference, its not worth it.

well the new set of rims would be required to have the dedicated track set. Unless I want to run my SIs on the street.
Then again used rims work too, and are cheaper.

If thats the case, I would look at:

Kosei K1 TS
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/results.jsp?filterSize=All&filterFinish=All&filterBrand=Kosei&filterSpecial=false&filterNew=All&autoMake=Honda&autoModel=Civic+Si+Hatchback&autoYear=1992&autoModClar=&sort=Brand
15x7 12.6lbs $119 each

Falken Hanabis
http://www.edgeracing.com/wheels/falken_wheel/
15x7 11lbs $89 each

Then for the tires go with Azenis or the RE-01 Rs.
