Yes very lame. Blame will be sprayed around like machine gun fire. Blame does not matter anymore, the damage is done.

The worst part is, the fiasco regardless of who is to blame, sets back Formula One in the USA. Maybe even eliminate the US GP. Pissed off people don't buy tickets to the race, they don't watch it on TV, they just don't care. The dedicated fan may be different, but mass majority will go back to being happy with NASCAR, ALMS, CCWS, and any other series except F1. With little to zero eyes watching F1 in the US means, commerical interest in getting am American in an F1 car slides downhill. The idea is to get an American in F1 to get the American consumer interested in F1, thus the eyes and money are channelled towards the TV broadcasts, teams and their sponsors. Without the millions of eyes watching that lone American (Scott Speed), it does not make good business sense to pour resources into a market that will show low or negative return on investment.

This was a public relations nightmare and a commercial failure.

How long did it for baseball fans to forgive MLB. It took a home run battle to get they eyes back.

NHL, they are still without a labor agreement.

US F1 GP, F1 will have to put together a huge apologetic public relations campaign. Even with that, it only goes so far to appease the masses.

F1 is a huge business, IMS poured millions of dollars in order to bring back the US GP. King George and IMS cannot let their speedway's F1 facilities go to waste, they too have money and investment in the USGP. I never thought I would have to put any hope in King George.

I can't blame the teams at all, they were only looking out for the safety of their drivers considering their underdeveloped tires. The FIA ought to punish Michelin.

^thats the problem, they cant directly punish michelin. so they are taking it out on the teams which in a way will indirectly get to michelin. i think its bs how they are saying the teams boycotted the race and they are at fault b/c they didnt bring the correct tire. the teams argue they were advised by an FIA approved manufacturer to not race due to a safety problem. another good argument was brought up about the chicane tho: michelin wanted a chicane, and the FIA stated that if the problem could not be found, then how did michelin know a chicane would solve it. but bravo to them for refunding the tickets, and i believe in addition to the refund those fans get free tickets for next year.
